The debut album "Sun Dogs" from Carbondale, IL rock band Cave Futures is a carefully crafted and deeply meditative experience. Emotions rise and fall with each passing chord progression, taking you on a cavernous journey inward. Many of these songs start softly and rise to a joyous crescendo on a tidal wave of voices provided by band leader Kevin Ohlau and singer Carly Gregory. The songs are rooted in deep grooves with layers of analog instrumentation delicately balanced to provide a weightless and timeless listening experience.

The story behind this record is that of Ohlau, master multi-instrumentalist, experimenting with multi-track recording for the first time. Armed with only a single microphone, a room full of instruments, and a head full of ideas, Ohlau spent countless hours working deep into the night to capture these moody and soulful performances. And though there are no words to be found on this 45 minute odyssey, the music on this record speaks for itself.

While much of the creation of this recording was a deeply solitary process, it was not created in a vacuum. Without the selfless gifts of knowledge, equipment, talent, inspiration, and encouragement, this music and this band wouldn't exist as they are, and further, might not exist at all.
